This still life captures mini baseball helmets of every MLB team. The three filters I used were colored pencil, cutout, and dry brush. There are 30 teams in Major League Baseball, so I arranged the helmets in three rows of ten. I thought this arrangement would make a cool still life because it makes a solid even rectangle. Also, the helmets make a jumble of different colors and logos.
I arranged this still life of all of the Pokemon games that my siblings and I own. I sorted the games by generation, starting form 3rd gen at the top and ending with 6th gen at the bottom. Although this is a large collection of games, we don't own every game, as we are missing two from 3rd gen, one from 4th gen and two from 5th gen, not to mention 1st and 2nd gen. I thought these games would make a good still life because the cartridges are mostly flat, which makes it easier to deal with shadows. Also the different colors of all the games makes for a cool assortment of random colors.
This is a still life I made of a bunch of California Raisins figures I found lying around. Many of them couldn't stand up on their own so I had to lean them against the backdrop. I thought these figures would make a good still life because they are very similar and can be arranged however I want. I tried to make more of them do an action shot, but the carpet made it difficult for them to stay standing. I couldn't find a plain white background object, so I had to use a bulletin board instead.
This is an assortment of random things that were on top of my desk. I didn't have to add or take away anything from this scene to make it a good still life. I have a bunch of White Sox stuff from my grandfather who was a huge White Sox fan. I thought the bobblehead and the 2005 World Series Championship ball would go well together, as well as the plain White Sox and plain Tigers ball. I also have a picture frame, a mini lighthouse, two trophies, a halloween decoration and a homemade robot. If I had to do anything differently, I would have moved the objects to a place where the background wasn't bright orange.
These are pictures that I took of my lunch that I made for myself for school. I was about to pack it into my bag when I realized that it would make a good still life. I like this location because it is right next to the sliding glass door which lets a lot of light in. In my other still lives, it was hard to find the perfect lighting, but this environment was very bright to begin with. The one thing I don't like is that the watercolor filter makes the photo a lot darker, and I couldn't find a way to fix that.
