I took these photos in the community garden/ apple orchard at the Leslie Science and Nature Center. I really like this location because it's a place where people can rent garden space and grow their own food. Unfortunately it is very early in the spring so I wasn't able to get any pictures of vegetables that people had grown. I did get some great shot of the apple orchard, which also doesn't have any apples yet. These photos convey a feeling of community, since many people come here to hang out and tend to their gardens.
These photos were taken in the field behind Leslie Science Center. I really like this location because it is right near one of my friends house, and it has lots of open space for great landscape photos. I took these photos earlier in the morning, so there are some very big shadows across the grass. If I had to do anything differently, I would have taken the photos during the middle of the day so there wouldn't be as many shadows. The first photo is one of my favorites because the bench serves as a cool focal point of emphasis.
These photos were taken in the woods behind my house. I edited these photos to make the color very vibrant, as you can see by the grass blades in the first picture and the dirt path in the second picture. I had a lot of difficult taking a good photo of the snake, because it was small and it would move when I got close to it, so I had to zoom in from a distance to get a good shot of it which was very challenging. It was also moving it's head a lot, so getting a good profile shot was pretty lucky. I really like how the filter on the second photo makes the dirt path a bright pink color.
These photos were taken at the Black Pond in the Black Pond woods. I saw a lot of animals at this location including frogs, turtles, and snakes. The photo of the turtle is a favorite of mine because the log that it's siting on separates the algae water with the clear water which makes a cool half and half effect. The second photo could have been used for the reflection project, but it thought it looked really cool with the painting filter. The reflection of the tree in the water is very vibrant.
These photos were taken at the Leslie Park Golf Course. I would have gone down and walked around on the course but there were a lot of people golfing at the time so I only had one vantage point to take photos from. I still got some good shot of the ponds and the sand traps. I also had to be careful not to have any people in my shot, which was a bit difficult. I really like how the filter makes the sand a bright pink smudge.
