I took both of these photos of a spare mouthpiece that was lying around. I tried to capture the form, balance and symmetry of the object in the first image, as it is standing straight up, perfectly balanced. The second image seemed more chaotic, so I decided to add the pointillism filter to represent the sound that is made why you buzz into the mouthpiece. The static feel shows a visual representation of background noise, which is what a musical instrument does. I thought the mouthpiece would be a cool object to photograph because it is symmetrical and it shows a reflection.
These are photos of a White Sox baseball that I inherited from my Grandfather who was a huge White Sox fan. I titled the first image "Sale", because it looks like the ball is on shelf at a store, ready to be sold, and also the White Sox used to have an amazing pitcher named Chris Sale, but ended up trading him to the Red Sox last year. I really like the shadows cast on the wall from the lighting in the room. The second image is titled "2005", because that was the last time the White Sox won the World Series, and the Color Halftone filter makes it look like an old TV from back then. The ball takes up the entire frame to represent that they were once a great team. These days, the White Sox are e very bad team.
These are photos of an old Master lock that I found in my garage. The first image is titled "Escape", because the lock is open and in a random position on the ground, as if someone escaped from prison after stealing the key to their cell. Again, I really like the shadows in this photo, and the random form of the two objects. The second photo is titled "Locked and Loaded", because the lock is closed and the lock and key are perfectly balanced and shown from a straight on angle. This shows security and safety, because everything is balanced and in place. The mezzotint filter is used here.
These are photos of a whistle that I use for life guarding. The first photo is titled "Off Duty", because the whistle is hanging up on a wall, not being used. The looming shadow behind it represents the countless people who drown every year because they swim with no life guard on duty. The next photo is titled "Madden" because a whistle is used in football as well as life guarding. I chose the mosaic filter because Madden is a football video game, and the the mosaic tiles make is look like a pixelated video game screen.
These are photos of a quarter that I found in my wallet. The first photo is titled "George" because George Washington is on the face of the coin. I like the balanced position of this picture, and I also like how the background and fore ground are out of focus and the coin is the only part in focus. The second photo is titled "Two Face", because it shows the tails side of the coin. I used the crystallize filter because it makes the coin appear older and more scratched up.
